Know Nemo

Hi, I am Nimesh, a Delhi boy, by birth.
Currently I work as a marketeer for my bread & butter, and pursue adventure sports and travel in ‘rest of the time’, which my colleagues and friends around me think, I have lots of.

I did not travel much till I got married. Not that I was going away from home thinking ‘Mujhe meri biwi se bachao’ (Save me from my wife!), but we two have done a lot of trips together. Some of them were quite touristy types in places like Manali, Mussourie, Nainital. However, after the adventure sports bug bit me, I have started exploring the unexplored places. I yearn for experiences now. Everywhere.

My marriage itself was a wet adventure (Don’t take it wrong :p ). It rained torrentially on that fortunate (Yes, I am highly optimistic!) night of January. There was hailstorm in Delhi, whole beautiful pandal (marriage tent) was filled with 3-4 inches of water, but highly luckily we found a nearby hall which had luckily had chairs, and mattresses for people to sit, and marriage could ‘solemnize’ in those . Best example of ‘Man proposes, God disposes’.
So, that’s where adventure started in my life. However, I didn’t realize this as next two years I was only into job and got plump (compared to extremely lean version of me few years back). Then, I did my first trek to Nag Tibba in March 2016, with a close friend and Bikat Adventures, and got to know that there’s beauty of nature hidden in mountains, not accessible to all mortals easily.

Went to another trek to Beas Kund in October 2016, and to Bhrigu Lake trek in June 2017. Trek to Hampta Pass happened in June 2019.

Further, I was selected for a Himalayan expedition scheduled for July 2016, for which I started cycling with Indirapuram Cycling Club. While the expedition got dropped after I had done extensive marketing on Facebook and in my office (for raising funds), and everyone around me knew about this, I got onto cycling very well. Follow me on Strava here.

Same year, I also started swimming, rock climbing (again with Bikat Adventures in Delhi), & playing squash.

Btw, I completed my first Triathlon in November 2018. I did 1.5 km swimming, 40 km Cycling, and then 10 km running all without a break, in Delhi.

Going back, In the last few years since Jan 2013, we/ I have been to following places. Check out my travel map here:

  • Bangkok – Pattaya (Honeymoon, yeah!),
  • Mcleodganj (first hill driving trip; in cold weather of December),
  • Kanatal (driving trip on anniversary),
  • Udaipur – Kumbhalgarh – Mt. Abu (family trip on Holi),
  • Jaipur (my mom stayed there for 3 years) – BTW, did you get your photo clicked by the 150 year old camera possessed by Tikamchand, in front of Hawa Mahal?
  • Goa (checkout my highly in-demand 8-day Goa itinerary here),
  • Rishikesh (multiple times, for rafting and kayaking with Expeditions India),
  • Kashmir (Yousmarg, Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam) – Check Yousmarg for miles of greenery; it defeats any other tourist destination for this ‘miles of greenery with grazing horses and sheeps in open.
  • Ranikhet (for ‘Wilderness Advanced First Aid‘ (WAFA) course by NOLS),
  • Mahabaleshwar – Pune – Mulshi – Imagica (In thick monsoon of August 2017, with green carpet welcoming us, in a self drive car)
  • Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (road trip with my friends Urvi & Apoorv), apart from the regular
  • Karauli – We actually went to a Jain pilgrimage called Mahaveer ji, but as usual I ended up discovering “Karauli Palace”, which is a magnificent palace constructed by king, and is still in possession of the heirs of the king. Its a must visit, being just 100 km away from Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
  • Chandigarh – Cycling Trip with Indirapuram Cycling Club. Yes, we rode cycle for the whole distance of 270 km from Delhi upto Chandigarh.
  • Manali (check out India’s first mid-air tent),
  • Shimla (Been to Chadwick Falls here?),
  • Mussourie (saw our first live snowfall here, plus checkout Devdar Woods in Sister Bazaar),
  • Nainital (in monsoons, stayed at the heritage hotel – The Pavilion).
  • Bhutan (Apart from usual Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, we went to Phobjikha Valley – a no man’s land for many, full of nothing-ness and a valley you only get to see in fantasy-fiction movies). Look out for upcoming blog post on Bhutan.
  • Meghalaya – My ultimate adventure trip, with hikes to waterfalls & bamboo trail.
  • Agra – 2 day road trip with early morning visit to Taj.
  • Hampta Pass – Trekked to Hampta Pass at 14000 feet, near Manali , with last day soaked in continuous rain.
